How can Zip Doctor help?

Zip Doctor provides you with access to family doctors, therapists, and medical experts who are ready to help you from wherever you are, 24/7. We offer a wide range of services, including:

    Confidential counseling with a licensed therapist if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, down, or not like yourself.

    Get advice and answers on a medical condition, diagnosis, treatment option, or surgery from a world-renowned specialist. Get a list of local specialists who can help with your specific medical needs. If your mental health condition isn’t improving, get guidance from the right specialists to progress with your treatment.

What is Telemedicine?

The utilization of modern technology to provide remote, interactive healthcare services between a licensed physician and a patient,to treat common illnesses. This is accomplished either through video, phone or secure messaging technologies.

What conditions can be treated via Telemedicine?

Below is a list of common conditions we do treat.

*** Note: Physician will not treat newborn or children less than two (2) years of age. Telemedicine is designed to handle non-emergency medical problems. You should NOT use it if you are experiencing a medical emergency and dial 911.

Who are the Zip Doctor doctors?

Our care is provided by a network of U.S. board-certified emergency medicine, internists, family doctors, and pediatricians licensed to practice medicine in the U.S. and provide care 24/7. We also have board-certified licensed therapists who can provide specialty care. Our Medical Experts services are provided by our global network of world-renowned specialists who advise on complex conditions, treatment plans, and surgeries.

Can I choose my doctor?

Not at this time. In order to provide quick /efficient service, when a consultation is requested, it will go into a queue. The first available physician with that state license will accept and process the consultation.

Do you provide telemedicine in every state?

Yes . Telemedicine services are provided in every state. (Arkansas law as of 9-1-2017 requires initial consultation be in video and all subsequent consults can be performed via phone.)

Do you provide consults outside the United States?

No, consults are not available outside the United States.

Do you provide video consultations in every state?

Our system is HIPPA compliant and regulated by state. We provide video in those states that allow video consultations. (Arkansas law as of 9- 1-2017 requires initial consultation be in video and all subsequent consults can be performed via phone.) Delaware and Idaho law requires a consult be done video only.

What is your response time after a consultation has been requested?

We guarantee a call back within two (2) hours. Our average response time is 23 minutes.

Do you use a third party for your doctor network?

Yes, we work with trusted third parties and their proprietary network of doctors.

How do you recruit your doctors and what is the credentialing process?

We post physician job postings according to state. Each applicant (Physician) must provide a copy of current professional license, current DEA registration if applicable, curriculum vitae, and the face sheet of the applicant’s current professional liability insurance policy. NCQA (National Committee Quality Assurance) stipulates that seven criteria must be verified from the primary source because they identify the legal authority to practice as well as the relevant training and experience.

Do you provide a Spanish speaking service?

We provide a full Spanish experience. This allows an individual to utilize the member portal in Spanish, speak with a Care Coordinator in Spanish, and consult with a doctor in Spanish, providing a full experience in their native language.

Can your doctors prescribe medication?

Yes, the patient will be provided a prescription if the consulting doctor deems it necessary. However, doctors will not prescribe substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic and /or certain drugs that may be harmful due to potential abuse. Drugs such as marijuana, opioids, Ambien and lifestyle drugs such as Viagra, Cialis, Propecia or Rogaine will not be prescribed.

**Doctor will not refill maintenance medication (high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes) if the patient has not visited with their primary care physician over six (6) month.

Can I call Zip Doctor outside of the United States?

Zip Doctor visits are currently available in the United States.

How does Zip Doctor protect my privacy?

Zip Doctor is committed to protecting the privacy of every individual who uses our services. We comply with all relevant state, national and international laws and regulations, including the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, known as HIPAA. Unless permitted or required by law, your medical information will not be shared without your consent. On occasion, we may use de-identified information to help us improve our clinical programs.

Do you accept insurance?

At ZipDoctor, insurance is not accepted or required. You can access all benefits of the ZipDoctor platform just by paying one low monthly payment!

Medical

Does the doctor review my medical history before a visit?

We will ask you to complete a brief medical history prior to requesting your first visit, similar to filling out forms before an in-person doctor visit. You can update your medical history at any time through the Zip Doctor app.

Your Zip Doctor medical history is stored on Zip Doctor HIPAA-compliant, encrypted central server. Before each visit, the doctor will review your medical history with specific focus on chronic illnesses, current medications, allergies, and any changes in your medical condition.

Can Zip Doctor handle emergency situations?

You should NOT use Zip Doctor if you are experiencing a medical emergency. In the event of a medical emergency, please call 911.

Will I talk with a real doctor?

Zip Doctor’s doctors are U.S. board-certified internists, family doctors, and pediatricians licensed to practice medicine in the U.S. When you request a visit, Zip Doctor will connect you with a doctor licensed in your state or province.

All of our physicians diagnose, treat, and prescribe medications (if necessary) for common, non-emergency health issues by phone or video.

When should I use Zip Doctor service?

You should choose Everyday Care when you want to talk to a doctor by phone, video chat, or mobile app about non-emergency health issues like sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, flu symptoms, rashes, and many other illnesses. Your doctor will diagnose your symptoms and provide treatment, which may include a prescription.

Mental Health

When should I choose mental health services?

We can help if you’re not feeling like yourself, confused about a personal situation, experiencing anxiety or depression, or overwhelmed with everything going on.

mental health services allow you to schedule a visit with a licensed therapist, or to schedule an appointment with a board-certified mental health therapist for help managing medications or more-serious diagnoses.

Therapists are available for appointments 24/7, from wherever you are most comfortable, by phone or video. Visits with a therapist only last as long as you feel you need them.

How do I schedule a mental health visit?

Go Online and login to your Zip Doctor account, to schedule a visit. Before your visit, you will complete a brief mental health questionnaire to help your therapist understand where you’re at and how you’re feeling. You can choose a therapist and propose three times that work best for you. Your chosen provider will work on coordinating the schedule with you through the message center.

What should I expect during my visit?

You will have a conversation with the mental health professional just as if you were at their office in person. We’re here to make you feel comfortable and heard.

Can I talk to the same therapist every time?

Yes. You can see the same specialist throughout your treatment.

Prescriptions

Can I get a prescription?

Zip Doctor does not guarantee prescriptions. It is up to the doctor to recommend the best treatment. Zip Doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic, and/or certain other drugs that may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. Also, non-therapeutic drugs such as Viagra and Cialis are not prescribed by Zip Doctor doctors.

How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?

Zip Doctor does not dispense prescription drugs. If the doctor prescribes medication, it is submitted electronically or by phone to the pharmacy of your choice.

Will I be contacted by Zip Doctor when my prescription is ready?

Zip Doctor will automatically notify you through the message center when your prescription is submitted. We suggest contacting your selected pharmacy to confirm when your prescription will be ready.

About visits

How do I schedule a visit?

To schedule a visit, log in to your account at ZipDoctor.com and click the “Talk to a Doctor” button on the home page. You will be asked a series of questions related to your reason for requesting a visit, similar to the forms you would fill out at a doctor’s office. If you have any issues or questions, you can always reach out to us for assistance with scheduling a visit.

Is there a time limit on visits?

There is no time limit on your visits.
